Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG that respects your time. Battles are turn-based and quick, but there's real thinking in how you position characters and time your skills. Boss fights especially reward planning over button-mashing.
The story caught me off guard. It starts with a standard 'chosen hero' setup and then quietly grows into something about family and stubborn small towns. Voice acting is limited, but the writing carries it.
My advice: don't skip the side quests early on. The gear and companion bonds you pick up make the mid-game far smoother, and a couple of optional characters are better than the ones the plot hands you.
